“I was impressed with the Gladiator Max’s performance…without a doubt standing far above any of those it defeated. Using 4 pipes with the “Heat-pipe Direct Touch” technology, along with a soundless 120mm fan, it’s a viable option to anyone looking for a good heat sink. At a fair price point of roughly $50 CAD, it’s a great upgrade from your stock heat sink if you’re looking to lower some temperatures, and decrease the noise coming from your tower at the same time. Not to mention, it’s simple elegance is pretty attractive, especially if you don’t anything too flashy.”

"Extremely great value for something of this build. If your experiencing over-heating, or even just wanting to push your system by overclocking it, the OCZ Gladiator Max is a great buy. Excellent craftsmanship and design has been put into this cooler. The four heatpipes pull a great amount of heat away from the CPU and the thin but firm aluminum fins dissipate the heat. Perfect for a processor at stock setting, or one at a medium-high overclock (3.2 – 3.8GHz range). OCZ really changed my thoughts about the push-pin design with this unit."
Hardware Bistro
"OCZ Gladiator Max is definitely a monster and a threat for other brands. [It] is a tower cooler and in order to strengthen its structure, OCZ has added six aluminum bars in between the base and the aluminum fins; very caring consideration. Unlike other tower coolers, OCZ Gladiator Max comes with unique fan mounting method where four rubber connectors will be used to secure the fan on the OCZ Gladiator Max. This method is not only able to secure the fan on the cooler firmly but also reduce the operating vibration noise. Its operating noise where the noise isn't audible at all even at full load; good for 24/7 users."
Bug Magazine (Croatia)
The OCZ Gladiator Max features a new mechanism that can be used in combination with the old cooling solutions. Fortunately, Gladiator Max is not particularly expensive. The fan on the Gladiator is not too noisy when it is automatically regulated."
PC Update (France)
"The Behemoth is the cheapest mouse in our little round-up at just 30 euro in the stores. But for the price, you are entitled to a slew of features worthy of a large price tag. The adjustable USB from 125 to 1000Hz, the adjustable dpi from 200 to 3200 over four levels and the creation of three storable profiles in the memory of the mouse and 18g weights to adjust the feel. Another great idea, five different outputs for the USB cable. Indeed, to cope better in your environment, the mouse is makes it possible to direct the cable from the front or sides. For 30 euros, it makes everything in a mouse that gamers desire. For a penniless young player not to put 70 euros in a G500, this is a great start!"
Hardware-Test (Denmark)
"The heatpipes have direct contact with the processor, which is a good solution. The use of a fan-mounting using anti vibration brackets is also a nice feature. When it comes to air cooling it does not get much better than this. The OCZ Gladiator Max nothing less than an absolute bargain. So if you are not one of those persons who need flashing lights everywhere, this is the cooler for you."
c’t Magazine (Germany)
“Gladiator Max comes with direct touch heatpipes, eliminating one step the heat has to take to get away from the CPU. The cooling performance is surprisingly good, it's well within healthy borders and the fan remains very quiet. All tested coolers showed a solid performance, noise is where the men separate from the boys. OCZ Gladiator Max did the best job here, OCZ offers the best performance – price – noise cooler.”

“The OCZ Gladiator Max is so much better than the others. We have to say that no other cooler can even be considered an opponent of this "gladiator”. Its heat induction is outstanding and as a result low temperature is a piece of cake. A very interesting consequence of the exceptional heat induction of OCZ’s cooler, is that there are minor differences in temperature between minimum and maximum rpm. In both cases the cooler is noiseless. We recommend it without a second thought to anyone who needs a quiet, while at the same time efficient, CPU cooler that can cope with any possible demand.”
Islabit (Spain)
“The OCZ Gladiator Max is certainly quite interesting; ideal to keep the processors from Intel and AMD at the optimal temperature. The design is a perfect combination for AM2 and Core i7 processors. If you want a quiet cooler, the Gladiator Max offers perfect performance. The price for the Gladiator Max is certainly not excessive, especially when you consider that there are much louder and less-performing coolers out there. In short, the OCZ Gladiator Max is recommended.”
Nokytech (France)
“We finally have a cooler that meets the needs of most users. The fan is generally quiet, with the design an evolution of the Vendetta 2, with the addition of a fourth heat pipe. The Gladiator Max will cost you less than 35 Euros ...a reasonable investment to keep your Core 2 Quad cool and quiet with decent temperatures."
Gamereactor (Norway)
“The Illuminati keyboard from OCZ is a good keyboard that works well. It is good to write on, has a strong backlight and is flat to prevent wear in the wrist and hands. This is essential when writing a lot on the keyboard. The keys are just perfect and you can press the number keys at the same time without the threat of inaccuracy. Gamers continue to be in for a great time, with OCZ releasing great keyboards and mice."
MikroDatorn (Sweden)
“We chose to use a CPU cooler from OCZ (Gladiator Max). This is because their mounting kit (OCZTFORC2GM) for 1366-base makes it an easy to install solution, and also stabilizes the assembly rate of the motherboard in a very exemplary manner. Another advantage of this solution is that contact between the cooler and the processor becomes very tight, which in turn makes the cooling more efficient. OCZ’s solution is very quiet with a maximum noise level at 26 decibels."
PCHS (Italy)
“Altogether the Gladiator Max is the perfect cooler for your i7 system. We also recommend to use the OCZ Freeze Thermal Paste which further increased the performance. The price of the cooler is also very interesting, not overpriced like other coolers out there and last but not least it is extremely quiet. 5/5 for the optimal cooler!”
Caseumbau (Germany)
“With the Gladiator Max, OCZ offers a high performing and at the same time quiet cooler. The built quality is second to none. Even under full load the Gladiator Max stays quiet and the performance is sufficient even for overclocked quad core processors. "OCZ Gladiator clearly exceeds expectations.Although LGA 1366 mounting kit is sold separately, it supports many different socket types. Material quality and design are astonishing. Fan connections reduce possible vibrations. It got very good results during first tests and top scores during Core i7 920 overclock tests. People who are interested in overclocking must have this cooler on the shopping list. End-user price is higher than average but also results are much better performance than similar models!"
Tweak (Denmark)
“I am impressed with Gladiators' ability to manage the i7 because it was nicely overclocked and is virtually silent in relation to the noisy Intel cooler. This is a cooler which does not hurt in the wallet and makes for formidable performance at an affordable price. So if you go after the price-performance logic when buying hardware, the OCZ Gladiator Max is clearly a cooler you have to look at. OCZ Technology has once again been innovative and presented us with good service at a very low price.”
OC3D
“The OCZ Gladiator Max is a direct evolution of its forbearer, and as such we expected great results. We were not disappointed as the Gladiator performed well beating both the Intel Stock cooler and Asus Triton comfortably. Considering that the Gladiator 'makes do' with a single 120mm fan fan configuration I was surprised it did so well. It was certainly much quieter than the Triton when pushed which is key for most aircooled setups. Not only that but it weighs in cheaper making it a sensible choice for those looking for a high performing cooler which won't make your ears or your wallet bleed."
DeXgo (Germany)
“The Gladiator Max built quality is outstanding and the cooler comes with smart features such as HTD, great design which increased heat dissipation. The OCZ Gladiator Max receives our Power Award in this cooler roundup because of excellent performance, both at 12V and 6V.”

"The OCZ is easy to mount and has a great design. It outperforms the Intel cooler by a large margin, especially under load. The Gladiator Max performed on all fronts and pushes our Tweak’O’Meter to 9. Outstanding performance and quiet operation make this an excellent cooler.”
Effizienz Gurus (Germany)
“The Gladiator Max from OCZ is impressive! The performance of the cooler keeps it in the top of our roundup at all times. For under EUR 40, OCZ offers a high quality product which is perfect for silent freaks and also overclockers. It deserves our Good Choice Award.”
Noticias 3D (Spain)
“The conclusion is clear, the OCZ Gladiator Max provides quiet, efficient, high performance. It’s extremely easy to install and the HDT design increases the heat dissipation. It outperforms many competitors some of them by 10 degrees, so we clearly have a unique product that deserves attention. Last but not least we want to mention that it is one of the first coolers compatible with Socket 1366. It receives our Recommended Award.”
CPU3D
"OCZ Technology have successfully produced two CPU coolers that will supercede their older Vendetta coolers. Both the Gladiator and the Gladiator Max offered excellent cooling performance during both idle and full load. The heatpipe direct touch technology is a great way of dissipating excess heat. It allows direct contact with the processor using four copper heat pipes, and ensures the most rapid heat transfer. The large array of uniquely 'folded' alunimum fins, also helps to maximize surface area for massive heat dissipation. The ultra quiet fans are a gem and really help in keeping the noise level down. If you get the choice...I recommend you go for the OCZ Gladiator Max. It's a larger cooler and performs slightly better than its sibbling. The cooling performance is excellent and the noise level is very low. OCZ has done a great job with their new Gladiator range."
Pure Overclock
"OCZ has done a fine job designing and engineering this cooler to handle even today's hot Quad Core CPUs. The price tag isn't as cheap as some of its OCZ siblings, but it's also not as expensive as some other popular coolers that come at a very pricy premium. It sits somewhere in the mix, performing as a top tier air cooler. Cooling is king and the performance results speak for themselves, with the Gladiator Max shining. The performance doesn't cost a fortune and you get a quality product for your hard-earned dollar. If you're in the market for a new heatsink, take at look at the Gladiator Max, we think it's definitely worth considering."
Oyungezer Magazine (Turkey): November 2008 “Editor’s Choice”
“4 pieces of 8mm copper heat pipe directly touch the cpu surface. It comes with a giant 120mm fan, which is rated to work between 800 – 1500 rpm, but rarely needs to work on high speeds. If you’re looking for a good cooling solution, Gladiator MAX could be a very good choice.”
PC Net (Turkey)
“Direct core contact technology started expanding this year, which helps major lowering in the temperatures. For now OCZ Gladiator MAX has the best performance in this category. The aluminum fins are cooled by a silent 120mm fan.”
PC Chip (Croatia)
“The new OCZ Gladiator cooler has 4 heatpipes and HDT Technology like the Vendetta 2. The performance is outstanding, it managed to cool down our heavily overclocked Q6600 with no problems and the results are very impressive for a cooler this size. Further more it is very quiet and offers a great price / performance ratio."
IT-Review
"All in all, a very good cooler that offers a great value for the money."
Overclockers Online
"The Gladiator Max is a clear winner compared to the two other coolers; it idled at a very desirable 20C, and when the heat load was applied, reached equilibrium in barely two minutes at a still relatively chilly 42C. OCZ blew me away with just how quiet they managed to make it; a few times I was tempted to place my fingers onto the fan to make sure it was even turning. The goal OCZ's technicians had when developing this heatsink and fan combo was to make it silent without sacrificing cooling performance, and they managed to do just that. Regarding noise levels, I would have no problem using the Gladiator Max in a HTPC or a workstation PC - the fan is barely audible from a foot away, and is dead silent from a meter on. Overall, the performance is perfect for lower voltage processors."
Legit Reviews
"Overall, the OCZ’s build quality of the Gladiator Max is very nice. The fins felt very sturdy and when I was handling it the thought I might bend a fin never entered my mind. The fan mounting is easy and straight forward. The cooler is light and has a small foot print. The fins of the Gladiator Max also cleared the motherboard components nicely. OZC has made another well built cooler."
PC Labs (Turkey)
“OCZ has done a great job with the XTC memory cooler. Especially for those who play too much with the voltages and like modding, the cooler has a great cooling performance and stylish looks. It also has a wide body which can cool four memory slots at the same time.”
Overclockers Club
"The Gladiator MAX takes the OCZ name to a new level with the usage of the direct heatpipe contact, which allowed it to cool the Q9450 to a nice level. The towering look, which seems to be very popular, seems to be how every cooler out on the market is designed here lately. I really liked the fact that it is powered by a 4 pin PWM connector, allowing the cooler to adapt to the heat load being pushed on it, for those who want a quiet case. I really liked the usage of the push-pin mounting hardware, as this makes changing the cooler you have installed quite easy, as well as making sure it's sturdy and locked onto the motherboard.I would suggest this cooler to someone who is looking for a nice silent cooler to use for their dual core build. The cooler not only looks great, but it is able to cool the processor to a reasonable temperature while staying quite silent."
Bjorn3D
"Idling at a temperature of 29°C shows that this CPU cooler is very capable of handling the heat output of the CPU. The fan that was used on this CPU cooler was extremely quiet, almost to the point where I wanted to put my fingers on the blades to make sure that they were even spinning at all. The weight of the Gladiator Max CPU cooler was pretty light considering its size."
Benchmark Reviews: Best CPU Cooler Performance
"OCZ Has once again done phenomenal job of taking Heat-pipe Direct Touch (HDT) technology and building it into their own design. OCZ introduces two new sizes (120mm for Gladiator Max, 92mm for Gladiator) for enthusiasts on a budget. The OCZTGLADM model comes with a low-noise 120mm cooling fan attached to a large "M" shaped finsink array. Four 8mm copper heat-pipe rods assembled in a staggered pattern travel to the top of the Gladiator Max using a conventional "U" design. OCZ's new Gladiator Max performed well with 25.6°C over ambient."
FrostyTech
"The OCZ Gladiator Max heatsink maintains a very nice temperature of 20.7°C over ambient at full fan speed. The OCZ Gladiator Max heatsink performed very well, particularly for the low amount of noise generated. The difference between the Gladiator Max and the best heatsink was only about 4 degrees, and within that span there are only five heatsinks with similarly quiet operational characteristics. So there you have it, the OCZ Gladiator Max heatsink is a good lower noise cooler for both Intel and AMD platforms."
