Computer Shopper “The hardware-assembly aspect of this system is the easiest part to contend with. OCZ provides clear instructions on how to remove the bottom cover, install the hard drive into its metal frame, and pop in the RAM. Once the drivers are installed, the netbook should be good to go. You can find the parts easily from the OCZ Web site, and purchase them through the third-party e-tailers listed there. The whole process is quite straightforward, so long as you know your way around computer components. But assuming you already have some of the right spare parts, the Neutrino is a good way to get a competitive netbook for less than the going rate.”

The Tech Report "OCZ has taken a worthy risk with its DIY laptop initiative, which is something that can't be said for all PC hardware vendors. By catering to the customization needs of enthusiasts and driving products almost through value alone, OCZ has a truly unique product line on its hands. The Neutrino doesn't seem to be targeted at customers who'd need to buy all the hardware off the shelf—and at $269, it's easily the most affordable 10" netbook if you've got the spare hardware. Anyone looking for a home for leftover laptop parts could turn this barebones system into a fun new netbook."

Laptop Magazine "The OCZ Neutrino is the answer to the prayers of many DIY techies. This bare-bones system allows for hundreds of different configuration possibilities and, for just $269, makes for an inexpensive platform for those looking to extend the life of components they’ve pulled from an older laptop."

ExtremeTech "It's one heck of a netbook. It's responsive, speedy, has a good battery life, and is an overall handy device. It's especially nice for travel, as not only is the Neutrino light enough for easy carrying, but also it fits on one of those little airplane trays. The Neutrino's audio is quite nice, especially with a decent headset attached. With Vista as its OS, we installed Office 2007 and tested Word, Excel, and Outlook, and all were snappy and responsive. We also installed Firefox for Web surfing and it, too, was very smooth. During general usage, we managed to squeeze a very decent two and a half to three hours of battery life. The Neutrino is a fantastic netbook that's powerful, responsive, light, and convenient. What it doesn't allow in its DIY aspects it makes up for simply by being a terrific product. For a businessperson on the go, it's certainly an attractive device."

i4U News "The OCZ Neutrino is a nice little netbook that will save the user with components lying around a bit of cash when it comes time to buy their new netbook. You get a netbook for less than you'd spend on one that's fully spec'ed, and you simultaneously find a home for parts you thought were useless. If you're the type that wants to customize things yourself with a larger, faster hard drive or more RAM, then right now, the Neutrino may just be the only game in town."

As you can see from all of these tests the Neutrino outperforms the Aspire One easily in all tests. Under load, I really couldn't hear the Neutrino, meaning the fans are quiet, and it seemed cool to the touch. The OCZ Neutrino 10" DIY Netbook is an excellent choice overall, it's feature rich and it performs well overall. As is it's an inexpensive choice, especially if you have the needed parts lying around, and even if you don't the parts can be had inexpensively, keeping the price below other comparable netbooks on the market today. If you're looking for a netbook, then make sure to check out the Neutrino first, it offers more than what other netbooks offer, and the Neutrino is lower priced."

Notebook Forums "It is nice sometimes to use a device that performs admirably, is easy to use and simply does a good job for you. This is way I feel about the Neutrino notebook from Ocz. The Neutrino is what it is: a small format computer that is very handy to have around. I am impressed with the battery life. I love the Neutrino for what it is; it is a lightweight, easy to use computer that has some impressive processing power in a little package. It can perform 90%+ of the activities I normally do on a home computer. The Neutrino eliminates any second guessing because it is no trouble at all to grab and go."

Overclock Intelligence Agency "I found the build quality of the Neutrino to be above average for netbooks. While the Neutrino was outfitted in a glossy plastic case similar to any netbook, the design of the case provided evidence of above-average effort in the engineering process. What's more, accessing the inside of the case does not void your warranty thanks to the DIY nature of the netbook! Using the Neutrino with an SSD and 2GB of RAM made for a nice and speedy experience. Clearly, any netbook can be upgraded to an SSD or more RAM, but the point of the Neutrino is that doing so doesn't incur excess cost. From its above average build quality and usability, to its characteristic customizability, the OCZ Neutrino DIY Netbook has a lot of things going for it. I much preferred using the OCZ Neutrino to any other netbook I've used. The Neutrino is a genuinely quality product, with a great design concept."
