Flash Media / 2.5" Solid State Drives / SATA II / 64MB Cache / MLC / Mainstream Series

Offering your system the incredible performance of flash-based storage, the OCZ Agility Series delivers the performance and reliability of SSDs at a lower price per gigabyte than other high speed offerings currently on the market. The OCZ Agility Series is the result of all the latest breakthroughs in SSD technology, including new architecture and controller design, blazing read/write speeds, and 64MB of onboard cache.

Perfect for notebooks and desktops alike, the Agility Series is ideal for energy-efficient mobile computing to extend battery life, increase the speed of access time, and provide a durable alternative to conventional hard disc drives with superior shock resistance. High capacities and low power consuming NAND flash technology provide the necessary performance and battery life boosts generated by the proliferation of mobile gaming and new ultra-thin laptops.

The OCZ Agility drives feature a durable yet lightweight alloy housing, and because OCZ SSDs have no moving parts, the drives are more rugged than traditional hard drives. Designed for ultimate reliability, Agility Series SSDs have an excellent 1.5 million hour mean time before failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term. All Agility Series SSD drives come backed a three year warranty and OCZ’s legendary service and support.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Solid State Drives DO NOT require defragmentation. It may decrease the lifespan of the drive.

*Consumers may see a discrepancy between reported capacity and actual capacity; the storage industry standard is to display capacity in decimal. However, the operating system usually calculates capacity in binary format, causing traditional HDD and SSD to show a lower capacity in Windows. In the case of SSDs, some of the capacity is reserved for formatting and redundancy for wear leveling. These reserved areas on an SSD may occupy up to 5% of the drive’s storage capacity. On the Vertex Series the naming convention reflects this and the 30 is equivalent to 32GB, the 60 is equivalent to the 64GB and so on.

**Rated speeds may vary slightly dependent on the benchmark used, drivers, windows version, bios version and file size. We recommend using ATTO and PC Mark Vantage for benchmarking SSDs.

"OCZ Technology is fast becoming a dominant force in the SSD market. Not even big brands have managed to compete at the same level. The performance the OCZ Agility Series 120Gb SSD is truley unbelieveable. It's meant to be aimed at the mainstream/performance market, but our tests show it can easily compete with higher end models with no problems at all. By setting a price point and targeting the mainstream/performance market...what OCZ have done, is to make their Agility Series a little more appealing to consumers. And looks like it might work. I have to admit the performance you'll get is phenomenal. If you're after a 120Gb SSD as a OS drive (which I think is plenty), then I would definitely recommend the OCZ Agility Series."

"In order to offer consumers more capacity without compromising performance OCZ has released the Agility SSD Series. Overall the Agility saves more power than other drives we have tested in the past. This SSD is definitely worth thinking about. The performance across the board is at the same level as much more expensive SSDs."

“OCZ's Agility drive was true to its name. It was very agile, with some impressive I/O performance numbers. I was particularly impressed with the ATTO write results, but regardless of which test you go with, this drive returned very respectable performance. Overall, I think that OCZ has gotten the combination of price, performance and reliability just right with the Agility SSD. With a better controller, added cache and affordable price, this should be a very strong contender for anyone looking to get their first laptop flash drive.”

“When compared to the vast majority of performance orientated MLC SSD’s the price is considerably lower. We feel in terms of performance vs. pricing, the Agility is in a good position and does offer a viable alternative to the Vertex for those looking to save a little money. For those looking to get a taste of what SSD performance is all about by spending as little as possible, then the Agility series appears to be the best way to go. What we can tell you is that the Agility series does provide consumers with a seriously good bang for their buck, and that they are most certainly worth the asking price.”

Benchmark Reviews
“The OCZ Agility mainstream Solid State Drive offers excellent read and write bandwidth speeds comparable to the premium Vertex series, with an exceptional 0.15 ms response time with very good MLC IOPS performance. The Indilinx Barefoot SATA controller is a formidable opponent to the competition, and it once again proves that it's best on the block. OCZ may have given the Agility series the same high-performance controller, but this mainstream SSD is packed with value and costs only $2.57 per gigabyte or storage space. The OCZ Agility is well suited for cutting-edge super-users and performance enthusiasts who want impressive response time and bandwidth speed from their computer system without a premium price tag. Benchmark Reviews has nominated the OCZ Agility SSD for our Editor's Choice Award, and can safely recommend this MLC Solid State Drive to our readers.”

"All tests showed that the Agility series is a very good performer in both reading and writing I/O operations. After many pages of tests and information, we can easily say that the Agility 120GB SSD is a fine, fast and attractive product. We found that the Agility series performs blazing fast with high response in all tasks and without any problems. The product comes with two years of warranty and the highly good support from OCZ makes us no thinking back when looking the Agility series at a retail/on-line shop."

Pure Overclock
"The write speeds of the Agility are very encouraging, and do not suffer the same slowdown as the Intel drive, with the OCZ maintaining a very speedy 156MB/s. We see a clear trend that the Agility is posting some stunning performance numbers. The Agility clearly runs ahead of the other Indilinx-based SSD, and exceeds the 230MB/s Read mark and posting almost 135MB/s Read speed. Perhaps most encouraging, however, is that the small file write speeds are very good, with no discernible lag, and the random access results are outstanding. The OCZ Agility boasts both very fast read and write speeds, posting results that put it near the top of the performance heap, yet is considerably cheaper than its competitors. Add in the Wiper utility and the ability to update the firmware, and the OCZ Agility is a formidable product in the SSD market, offering excellent performance at an attractive price."

"I think it is safe to state that OCZ absolutely tries to dominate the SSD market, and with good success. In each segment of the market they have a product and that is just very much welcomed. The end-result is quite honestly a high-end performing SSD. OCZ might advertise the write speeds at 135MB/sec...the reality is that on average it's faster. We were impressed by OCZ's Agility for sure, blazing speeds, stunning access times and a nice cache making the SSD very suitable for any operating system. The future of SSD drives is looking good and bright, and products like the Agility as such bring a big smile to my face."

"OCZ Agility drives are lightning fast and we are impressed that they remain close to the top of the charts in testing. The drives use the Indilinx Barefoot controller and we've seen that it's one of the fastest controllers out there. A fast controller combined with fast Nand Flash is a hard combination to beat. OCZ made a good choice in the Indilinx controller and did a fine job with Agility drives. Drives are a good choice for those that demand top end performance or just want to revitalize an older machine without having to upgrade the whole computer. The OCZ Agility 128GB SSD rivaled the performance of the Vertex drive and provides a better Cost per GB ratio, with it's lightning fast speed and lower cost."

“We can clearly see the OCZ Technology Agility series 120GB SSD is the fastest reading drive. The sequential reading and writing speeds on the OCZ Technology Agility series 120GB SSD are excellent and one of the fastest single drives we have ever tested here at CD Freaks. The small file reading and writing performance is also very good indeed. The OCZ Agility is the winner in our IOMeter test results. These Indilinx based SSD drives are way out ahead of our other comparison drives. Reading access times are lightning fast and applications load in an instant, making the Agility series of drives ideal as the operating system drive with all the user’s installed applications. IOP performance is excellent, and the drive is completely stable. There is no hint of stuttering whatsoever.”

"As you can see, the fastest consumer HDD is no match for OCZ Agility Series SSD. In almost every test, this drive dominates and sometimes doubles the Velociraptor's read/write performance scores. The Agility Series is definitely the drive to own and is backed with a 2 year warranty. Enthusiasts who have made up their minds on an SSD upgrade have a lot of options...we highly recommend OCZ's Agility Series 120GB SSD as the best value for your money."

"For a SSD, we feel the price is very good as the OCZ Agility rings in slightly cheaper than competing drives. Of course, comparing price per Gigabyte to a mechanical desktop hard drive will paint a different picture, but it is no secret both drives are in completely different classes. If you’re looking for a speedy drive to make your new primary partition, the OCZ Agility should be on your short list. It is fast, as well as consistently speedy for the last several weeks."

"With reads of almost 240 MB/s and writes faster than 150 MB/s, the Agility certainly delivers excellent sequential transfer performance. Indeed, for the past few weeks I have been using the Agility as my Vista Ultimate system drive and have experienced zero stuttering or other types of trouble. All of this improvement in performance is likely attributable to the welcome change to an Indilinx controller with 64MB of cache. This controller choice alone puts the Agility easily above the majority of mainstream SSD competition. I must say, I am impressed with the OCZ Agility. High performance, low price, all around great product. In my opinion, if you're in the market for an SSD, there is little questioning that this is the drive to get. It makes very little sense for the average user to pay more for another drive."

"This OCZ Agility is OCZ's latest budget SSD that reckons it's got the speed you need and the space you want. Not only is it nice and roomy, it also has a very good average read speed of 219.7MB.s. It is incredibly stable. Write speeds got a great boost from the 64MB cache and hit roughly 200MB/s when copying the Crysis install file. It just felt faster than most other drives we've looked at. The Agility offers a very good performance at a nice price."

“At the opposite end of the Indilinx Barefoot scale we have the OCZ Agility, with the 120GB version priced at $270, making it for a small margin the cheapest of its kind. Priced at around $90 less than the Vertex, the Agility is only a whisker slower for the most part. Those looking for an affordable high performance SSD should seriously consider something with an Indilinx controller. The OCZ Vertex still stands out as one of the better options, as it is likely the best supported SSD, with OCZ constantly working on its firmware and cleaning software. This also goes for the cheaper Agility series, which we have crowned as the best value option.”

"OCZ is beginning the SSD movement, just like they did with memory, by dominating it. The Agility series is right in the middle of the SSD line up. It has performance numbers in line with their high end Vertex, but with pricing all its own. How many companies out there have solid state drives that are rated at 230MB/135MB read and write respectively? A few to be honest. Now I ask you, 'how many with these number be had for about $300 or so?' None. This why the Agility is a great buy. OCZ's Agility is an amazing product. I was so impressed by the numbers, size and low energy levels that I replaced my mechanical hard drive. If you have to the extra funds to purchase a SSD, it will be well worth it. And the OCZ Agility should be one of the first to considered."

"If you want to make the jump to an SSD and are looking to save every last dollar, the Agility is an option. I think the Agility line is a great idea from OCZ. I’m not sure about you but personally, as long as the flash is reliable, I don’t care who makes it. And I’m willing to give up a little in the way of performance in order to hit more competitive price points. If you're trying to move to an SSD at the lowest possible cost, there's finally a real alternative to Intel. We also have Indilinx to thank for driving SSD prices as low as they have been. Is Indilinx a close runner up? Absolutely. It's truly a lower cost alternative."

The OCZ drive is housed in a sturdy aluminum shell with standard screw holes for mounting in a laptop or external HDD case. "The OCZ outperforms other analyzed SSDs. Reading and writing of data is excellent, and gives a unique result. In all other respects, the Agility has performed impressively: formatting speed (almost instantaneous the quick format), lightweight (it's amazing it’s so light), resistance (we have not thrown it out the window but it would have been nice try), stability (even with one strange behavior), temperature (at all times has been tempered) and noise (silence)."

"The good results obtained by the Agility is thanks to the Indilinx controller. These are changing market conditions, as Samsung, Toshiba or Intel NAND flash chips were used. The Agility attempts to reduce the price per gigabyte of SSDs. Firmware updates can result in better results as they become available. The Garbage Collection is a new feature which provides continuity of performance. OCZ takes a large share in the developments of SSD technology. The Agility model is also undoubtedly attracting attention in this market."

"With the write results...the Agility blew the competition away. Even the full Agility performed faster than the new similar sized SSDs made by Patriot Memory, and G.Skill. I was surprised by the Read and Write transfer rates as these are the fastest I’ve seen. They’re twice as fast as the Corsair P64 and the full drive performs at the same speed as a new G.Skill Falcon. The OCZ Agility is not only cheaper than the competition, it performs just as well. It significantly reduced the power load for my PC and managed to put out some of the fastest numbers. Even after filling the drive several times to simulate a well used drive, the benchmark results still put the OCZ Agility ahead other Indilinx Barefoot and second generation Samsung drives."

"Surprisingly the Agility drive outperforms its advertised max performance numbers scoring 150MB/s read and 244MB/s write speeds during the ATTO test. It is nice to see OCZ trying to get more solid state drives out there to the mainstream. By using different NAND chips on the Agility they are able to make it more affordable for consumers. You are still going to see a tremendous difference if you are going from a regular SATA drive to a SSD drive. Honestly I could not find a single thing wrong with the Agility drive and for OCZ to make it affordable for consumers makes it even better!"

"With the results that we obtained at above, OCZ Agility SSD is a truly great performance SSD. Both of the read and write speeds of OCZ Agility SSD are pretty promising with what OCZ has stated in the web. Overall we are pretty satisfied with OCZ 30GB Agility SSD with its impressive performance; greater read/write speeds than traditional mechanical HDDs and some SSDs too. Besides that with its 64MB onboard cache, the whole SSD performance is boost up and the overall system response times is increased in most of the applications too. Other great features of OCZ 30GB Agility SSD are 3 years warranty, 1.5 million MTBF and etc. If you are looking for a budget SSD...then OCZ 30GB Agility SSD is not a bad choice at all."

"Firmware v1.3 says it all. ATTO gives us scores varying from 10MB/s to almost 250MB/s (a good 10% more then Agility's box rating) for reads, and 15MB/s all the way to over 260MB/s for writes (a good 90% more then box rating at settings over 128k size). This is just insane and the drive is freakishly fast. To sum it up - excellent scores. Firmware v1.4 is - believe it or not - equally as fast. This drive is just superb. It's just as fast as the Vertex and even cheaper. So, an easy Editor's choice award for OCZ and Agility."

"The OCZ Agility uses one of the most efficient controllers currently available, the Indilinx which provides us with great results during our tests. The Agility comes with 64MB cache and the advertised speed of the manufactures is 230MB read and 135MB write. However during our tests we saw even better numbers than this! The drive managed to get 239.4 and 209.6MB / s read and write (DiskBench) and the average file transfer was also extremely good at 212.3 and 163.9MB/s. These numbers are amongst the highest of any SSD tested so far! We also reached a top position on IOPS and scored the best results of any 60GB SSD in PCmark and Vista! It excels as a O/S-disc where we can take full advantage of its fast access time as well as fast read and write performance."

"The Agility again puts up very impressive results, and it is able to maintain them from start to finish. Read speeds are generally what SSD manufacturers focus on, and for the sake of keeping the price down the write speeds may be allowed to suffer a bit. Not so with this drive. While OCZ Technology only promises 135MB/s, each benchmark indicated that this was a conservative value, and Lavalys' Everest showed the drive performing over 40MB/s better than the rated value. In real world usage the drive performed well, too. Windows 7 boot times were very quick, and there was never any stuttering or other issues."

The OCZ Agility delivers absolutely good performance and costs are currently about 1 200 kroner less than a 160-gigabyte SSD from Intel. One area the Indilinx-based solid-one gets the edge is that it’s better than Intel's handling of large files. One should note that the SSD that is listed at 64 and 128 gigabytes normally should have the same practical (formatted) capacity of the 60 and 120 gigabytes SSDs, as names by OCZ. The lower price of the Agility makes this a very good buy, with good performance, automatic TRIM support and no minus points."

"The Agility is the affordable entry-level model, with performance on a very acceptable level. With just over 140 MB / s sequential write speed, the Agility is positioned well ahead of Kingston's introductory model, the SSDNow V +. Looking at the random reading and writing of small blocks, which comes closest to an everyday scenario, one finds that the Agility 120GB is ranked well when compared with other drives. Good write performance is typical of an Indilinx-controlled drive. The Agility has good read and write performance. Firmware updates are continuously being developed, which improve their performance further."

"OCZ has done an excellent job in designing the Agility 120GB. The unit has a constant sequential read speed which remains above 200MB/s. The consistency of this speed is a virtue rarely found in other SSDs. The speed of writing peaks from time to time, but never drops below 130MB/s, indeed, it has had frequent peaks reaching up to 160-170MB/s. At present, the OCZ Agility is the drive that performs better in this scenario, always boasting performance superior to any other SSD analyzed by me until today. Highest mark for the OCZ 120GB Agility, a drive exceptionally fast and well designed."

"The fastest SSDs in this review, such as the Agility from OCZ, are faster than any HDD. The average read performance of the fastest drive is 188MB/s, which is faster than any HDD we have tested to date. Random Access times are the biggest performance plus over HDDs. When HDDs realign their mechanics to find data that's spread over the drive, it takes about 10-15ms. SSDs access random data in just 0.1ms."

“OCZ Agility 120GB SSD – lightning-fast Indilinx controller speed for your OS and games. A good SSD is the backbone of any high-performance PC, burning though level loading data at a furious rate that leaves any tradition hardware in the dust. While SSDs are not particularly huge, the performance makes them worth the sacrificed space. An investment in speed now, or wait until prices drop. It goes without saying however, every hardcore user will need at least one of them!”

"The OCZ Agility 60GB SSD lives up to its brand name by offering a read speed that beats out many of the more expensive SSDs we’ve seen including the performance SSDs from OCZ. The OCZ Agility 60GB SSD offers great performance despite its mainstream market billing. While its smaller cache size and capacity does make it more affordable and a bit more limited, it’s very fast read performance balances this out nicely. This makes the OCZ Agility 60GB SSD ideal for the notebook user looking for a more affordable SSD with all the advantages of better stability, durability and reliability than a more expensive SSD would offer."

"We then duplicated the file on the SSD and we got a reading of 202MB/s at one point while it averaged at about 105MB/s. The duplication took about 26 seconds, nearly twice as fast as copying from another drive. We then used WinZip 14.0 to compress the same folder and it took only about 2 minutes. In contrast, the same folder zipped on a normal HDD took 3.5 minutes. That’s nearly two times faster! Now that’s what we call agile! We’ve said this before and we’ll say this again. SSDs are about performance and not capacity. Having said that, the OCZ Agility Series 60GB SSD performed great!"

"If you are the impatient type, you will like the faster boot times. After installing, some of the apps that I use on a daily basis like Photo Shop and Word I noticed a significant improvement in how quickly both of the applications launch. The difference was especially noticeable on Photo Shop. It usually takes my HDD test machine about 5 seconds to launch photo shop. With the OCZ Agility 60 GB SSD, the time to launch the program was about half that amount. Verdict: Verdict The OCZ Agility 60GB SSD is a perfect first SSD for the user looking for a speedy boot drive for a new computer."

"Solid state drives are built with high performance in mind and OCZ's Agility certainly delivers the goods. Not only does it turn in some great numbers in our synthetic benchmarks, actual, real-world performance is day and night when put head to head against a mechanical hard drive. With the Agility, OCZ has the most affordable SSD built around the Indilinx controller, which nets you the all important TRIM command under Windows 7. Is the Agility worth the investment? Without any hesitation -- yes!"

"The OCZ Agility Series SSD are easily one of the fastest mainstream SSD drives which for the price point can rival more expensive Intel brand SSD's. Lets not forget that the advantages of low power consumption, shock resistance and small size make this a very desirable alternative. There is no doubt that this OCZ Agility SSD outperforms any hard drive no matter what you put up against it. If your all about having the fastest operating system and boot load times for your applications and games, or even upgrade and your laptop PCWizKid definitely recommends this fast and silent killer drive."
