With blazing access times combined with excellent reliability, the OCZ SATA II 2.5" SSD is the answer for enthusiasts demanding the most advanced storage for their notebooks and systems.

With capacities of 32GB and 64GB and premier speeds of 100MB/s read and 80MB/s write, OCZ SATA II SSDs enable enhanced productivity in your everyday computing and intensive multi-tasking applications. Featuring durable yet lightweight brushed alloy housing, OCZ SATA II 2.5" SSDs have no moving parts that are prone to damage from common mishandling. Designed for ultimate reliability, these SSDs have an excellent two million hour mean time before failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Solid State Drives DO NOT require defragmentation. It may decrease the lifespan of the drive.

*Rated speeds are based on NVIDIA 680i chipset and may vary slightly dependent on the benchmark used, drivers, windows version, bios version and file size. We recommend using ATTO and PC mark vantage for benchmarking SSDs. Current generation SSD drives are designed and optimized for the latest mobile platforms and are not recommended for use in laptops models purchased prior to 2007.

**Consumers may see a discrepancy between reported capacity and actual capacity; the storage industry standard is to display capacity in decimal. However, the operating system usually calculates capacity in binary format, causing traditional HDD and SSD to show a lower capacity in Windows. In the case of SSDs, some of the capacity is reserved for formatting and redundancy for wear leveling. These reserved areas on an SSD may occupy up to 5% of the drive’s storage capacity.

"The real story of SSDs is the way they feel to use everyday. It's that aforementioned snappiness that really makes them a pleasure to use. It's immediately obvious the OCZ SSD is by far and away the fastest drive in every aspect. The average transfer rate is above any other drive and unlike all the hard drive's the transfer rate doesn't start high and drop off towards the end. On top of this, the access time is also orders of magnitude faster than the other drives. All in all, this OCZ turned in a very impressive performance. The SSD simply trounces the competition - and our own more subjective tests also backed this up. Quite simply, this is the fastest drive we've ever tested, and by a long way. If you do have deep pockets and want the ultimate performance from your desktop or notebook, then this drive is the way to go."

"The OCZ SSD II 64GB is fast and consumes very little energy. We reached 90.8MB/s on read and 83.5MB/s on write, with this performs OCZ has one of the fastest 2.5" SSDs. With the low access time of 3.8ms the OCZ SSD can increase a system significantly when replacing the traditional hard drive. The OCZ drive fulfills everything you are looking for in an OCZ drive."

"In regards to product appearance, you would never know that OCZ is capturing the value portion of the SSD market. The Alloy case with brushed finish is well beyond the plastic card case I've seen the competition using. OCZ's new SATA-II SSD OCZSSD2-1S32G has just set two new records: producing a data burst read speed of 160.7 MBps and a sustained read bandwidth of 156.4 MBps. The OCZ SATA-II Solid State Drive is an excellent product for extending notebook battery life and increasing overall system performance. With prices much closer to affordable, gamers and hardware enthusiasts may also benefit from the new technology, and utilize the OCZSSD2 to power their high-performance computer system. The performance is difinately there, and the price has become less of an issue; so it might be time to give Solid State Drives a try! I highly recommend the OCZ SATA-II OCZSSD2-1S32G 32GB 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive, as it has set read speed records at a cost more in-line with enthusiast expectations."

"By way of its greatly reduced power dissipation, the OCZ 64GB SSD leads our test group in both idle and load thermals thanks to the lack of mechanical parts. OCZ drives have write speeds that are now comparable with the majority of the latest 7200RPM mechanical drives. The OCZ drive performs exceptionally well in the 64/128 range and like most SSD drives, we see a significant decrease in write throughput. The biggest advantages of the OCZ SSD drives is not just class leading performance, but also reliability due to the lack of moving parts, small form factor, excellent thermals/acoustics, and low power use. The target market is obviously the power notebook user, but considering the 64GB of storage, this drive would make any desktop enthusiast with deep pockets valuing top-flight performance happy. We must consider this particular SSD technology represents a true shift in this market by offering excellent performance, greatly improved capacities, and class leading thermals/acoustics/power at a price per-GB unimaginable just a few months ago."

“OCZ’s SSDs have SATA-II interface and this is a step forward compared to SATA-I rivals. Aluminum case looks very nice. We have used PCMark Vantage. OCZ SSD’s program loading performance is 8 times better than Seagate! SSD is almost %100 faster in majority of the tests. System loads files from 100s of different locations. SSD gets the advantage in hand because the avg. latency is 100 times less compared to traditional harddisk drives! SSD’s will be a part of both laptops and desktops in near future “

“We weren’t happy with the first couple of samples of SSD’s that we have received, performance wasn’t better than traditional harddives but OCZ is different from the crowd. OCZ’s performance is not only better than 2.5”, but it’s also better than any 3.5” that has beend ranked on our top 10 list. 85.5MB’s write and 94.2 MB’s read performance is amazing. 0.1ms latency is far ahead compared to the traditional drives with 12-13ms avg."

"The random access time of the SSD drive is just draw-dropping when compared to even the fastest standard platter-based hard drives. If you thought our previous results with the original OCZ SSD drive were impressive, then the scores of the OCZ 64GB SATA-II SSD are really going to blow your socks off. The new OCZ 64GB SATA-II SSD is the top performer. The new SATA-II interface has made vast improvements in the burst speeds as well as sustained transfer rates without sacrificing any of the blazing random access speed that solid state drives are known for. Enthusiasts have a new hard disk to lust after with OCZ's 64GB SATA-II solid state drive!"

“OCZ’s 64 GB SSD is different from the models we’ve tested in the past. The SSD has Samsung’s next generation technology and has twice the performance of the older generations. The source of the speed isn’t SATA 3.0, it’s the new generation memory cells. You can see the test results. We can give our Best Performance Award without any doubt."

"Next to the outstanding performance of the OCZ SSD drive it’s interesting to compare the dropping read and write speeds from both other hard drives. Even more interesting are the differences we found on access times. PC Mark leaves no doubt about the clear winner on performance – the OCZ SSD dominates all the way. When it comes to efficiency, noise level and reliability the traditional hard drives don’t even come close to the SSD.”

"What the OCZ SATA II 2.5” SSD is able to do beats everything else — both the Flash SSDs and all of the mechanical hard drives. It’s the new OCZ Flash SSD that really shines. It provides 5-6x more performance per watt than the mechanical hard drives. Most of the Flash SSDs just aren’t that much better — until now, as shown by OCZ. OCZ is the one to beat everyone else in performance. The only drive that actually showed mind-blowing results. There is one conclusion we would like to make right away: OCZ’s new SATA II 2.5“ SSD is the best Flash SSD in our lineup. The OCZ Flash SSD provides performance, and its power efficiency is unmatched. This is the type of result a Flash SSD should provide."

The Tech Report
"That's what we call complete and utter dominance. The OCZ SSDs crush the mechanical competition here. There are two components to this question, the first of which is whether solid-state storage is fast enough to take on the speediest mechanical drives on the market. For the OCZ SATA II, the answer is an emphatic yes. These drives delivered great application and multitasking performance, quick transfer rates, instantaneous access times, and a jaw-dropping multi-user IOMeter performance. And they did so while consuming very little power and not making a sound."

"OCZ's drive is easily the fastest in just about everything we tried. We wanted to find are solid state drives really faster than the conventional hard disc drives and we did. The solid state drives are truly impressive performance wise. The biggest gain is visible in applications that randomly access the data on the drive. Since operating systems do a lot of random access almost all computers will benefit from solid state drives. SSD is definitely the thing for those that seek performance. OCZ's SATA II SSD demolishes pretty much everything RaptorX can do, which makes it our new favourite drive for testing."

"The OCZ 64GB standard SLC-based SSD we tested actually proved to be another interesting and compelling option, due to its highly stable and consistent performance for both read and write operations. This drive showed significantly less variation in random write performance over small file sizes. These types of SLC-based SSDs will cater to the performance enthusiast and enterprise applications in the future."

Maximum PC
In our tests, the Samsung and OCZ drives ran neck and neck in our sustained transfer read and write benchmarks. The two drives posted similar results in random access tests. Our PCMark Vantage measurement revealed a larger performance gap. The OCZ drive outpaced the Samsung by 5 percent while handily beating the rest of the field. The showdown between these drives is really more a battle of price than performance, as the street price for each flip-flops among retailers. We’re satisfied with either SSD."
