 | | | | Flash Media / Solid State Drives / SATA II / MLC / 2.5" SSD / Value Series
The Solid Series SSD is the quality choice for value-conscious upgraders looking to add the benefits of solid state architechture without the higher price premiums. OCZ Solid Series Solid State Drives enable enhanced productivity in everyday computing and multi-tasking applications.
Perfect for the latest generation of performance notebooks, the Solid Series is ideal for energy-efficient mobile computing to extend battery life, decreased access time, and provide a durable alternative to conventional hard disc drives with superior shock resistance.
High capacities and low power consuming NAND flash technology provide the necessary performance and battery life boosts generated by the proliferation of mobile gaming and new ultra-thin laptops. With mainstream access and seek times combined with excellent reliability, the OCZ Solid Series SSDs are the answer for consumers demanding this latest storage technology at an affordable price.
The addition of a mini-USB port also makes it possible for customers in the field to update the Solid Series’ firmware should new versions become available, to further enhance compatibility or performance with future platforms.
Solid series SSD drives are available in capacities of 30GB, 60GB, 120GB, and 250GB and deliver up to an incredible 155 MB/s and 90 MB/s read/write speeds and seek times of less than 0.35ms, making the Solid series up to 10x as fast on a seek-time basis than the best performing 2.5” HDDs on the market, all while consuming 50% less power. Current generation SSD drives are designed and optimized for the latest mobile platforms and are not recommended for use in laptops models purchased prior to 2007.
The drives feature a durable yet lightweight alloy housing, and because OCZ SSDs have no moving parts, the drives are not prone to damage from common mishandling. Designed for ultimate reliability, these SSDs have an excellent 1.5 million hour mean time before failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term. All Solid Series SSD drives come backed a two year warranty and OCZ’s legendary service and support.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Solid State Drives DO NOT require defragmentation. It may decrease the lifespan of the drive.
*Consumers may see a discrepancy between reported capacity and actual capacity; the storage industry standard is to display capacity in decimal. However, the operating system usually calculates capacity in binary format, causing traditional HDD and SSD to show a lower capacity in Windows. In the case of SSDs, some of the capacity is reserved for formatting and redundancy for wear leveling. These reserved areas on an SSD may occupy up to 5% of the drive’s storage capacity. Therefore, 30GB is equivalent to 32GB and so forth.
**Rated speeds are based on NVIDIA 680i chipset and may vary slightly dependent on the benchmark used, drivers, windows version, bios version and file size. We recommend using ATTO and PC Mark Vantage for benchmarking SSDs.

 | | OverClock Intelligence Agency “The OCZ Solid Series completely redefines the meaning of a value SSD. OCZ still manages to pack some serious performance into their Solid line. It would make a perfect choice for someone looking for small and light portable storage with a bit more capacity than the typical USB thumb drive allows. While expensive compared to conventional hard drives, these prices are cheap compared to how much 'performance' SSD drives go for. And it simply blows away any traditional style notebook drive I've ever tested, including the 5400rpm and 7200rpm SATA drives I had on hand for comparison. The OCZ Solid SSD would make an awesome system disk for your OS. In a desktop I'd love to see what two or three of these are capable of in a stripe array.”

Tech Report: February 2009 System Guide "We'd like the Kitchen PC to be as quiet as possible, which is why we've picked a 32GB OCZ solid-state drive to house our operating system and applications. You can probably dump a few MP3s and random documents on there, too. This drive gets our nod for its low price tag, decent performance ratings, and good user reviews."

PCNet Magazine (Turkey) “As one of the most prestigious brands, OCZ presents high performance SSD’s with reasonable prices. With SATA II interface, this 2.5” drive can be used with both laptops and desktops. Also can be used to transport data, or for external use by it’s mini USB port.”

PC Magazine (Greece) “If you are looking for something economical, OCZ Solid at 30GB is the most economical offer around at this moment.”
