* XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreaders optimize the thermal management of memory modules by promoting greater airflow by means of micro-convection throughout what is usually the dead air space inside conventional heatspreader designs. In this manner, build-up of heat is avoided and thermal dissipation of the memory components is offloaded more efficiently through the honeycomb design. At the same time, mechanical stability is maintained.

"OCZ 8GB kit reacted well to overclocking and refused to be intimidated by the fact that 4 modules can sometimes run unstable – it ran perfectly. We tried playing Crysis and it looks as if our memory provided our 2 x 9800 GX2 SLI setup with some additional muscle, so we got some significant frame rate increase. This is not the first time we’ve tested 8GB of memory, but this time we’ve seen that you can sometimes actually benefit from this amount. If you ever thought about putting all your memory slots to use, we recommend OCZ’s 8GB Platinum memory."

"8Gb of memory is not any slower than 4Gb, or 2Gb. This is actually better news than you think, as you do not need to fear any more that a fully loaded pc setup will slow your memory subsystem down. Our test kit of the day is the shining example of this, as OCZ have done an excellent job with bringing the latencies of their memory down, while providing some very nice overclocking headroom at the same time. I for one will not go back to 2Gb any more, not ever."
