Blarg OC As I stated at the beginning of this review, I approached this stick of ram with a lot of skepticism, and for good reason. There are so many different high performance ram manufacturers out there today, and some arn't at all what they say they are. I feared that OCZ had just produced yet another stick of overclocked PC2700, but was pleasently surprised to see it run flawlessly at it's advertised 433MHz and beyond.

The Crucible Pretty successful over clock. I was very impressed with this ram. From the slightly soiled reputation that OCZ has gotten over the last few years, I think this product may be the shining light that brings them back as a major provider of top quality equipment for the enthusiasts community. I feel I could have taken this stick further had my cpu allowed my to push further, but after 171Mhz fsb the system was no longer stable at any voltage. As always at TheCrucible.ca this product was acquired through retail channels and not direct from OCZ. This allows us to give a more realistic profile of the product.

Conclusion
At the most aggressive memory settings, 2-2-5-2 1T, the OCZ DIMM clocked out a whopping 404 MHz DDR. It wasn't lost on us that OCZ stated the memory was rated at 400 MHz at a much less restrictive 2-3-6-3 2T setting. When we loosened things up to a setting that was still more restrictive than OCZ's rated claim, the memory was showing itself capable of running at a PC3500 (DDR433) level. Remember our test unit is PC3200 (DDR400) and not the faster PC3500 stuff!! Taking the settings to the loosest of the three test settings, we came away with a new speed king, besting the previous king by a full 10 MHz. And that king was the venerable Corsair XMS3500 (DDR433).
I think the results speak for themselves. A stick of PC3200 that thinks it is PC3500. What was also impressive was the fact that OCZ markets the memory far below the performance levels it is capable of. Hats off for some rock solid DIMMs to OCZ.

The Tech Zone Overall, I am very impressed with this RAM. Rated at PC3200, able to run at PC3500. Chances. OCZ Technology sells their RAM though dealers like Cold Concept and RAMStore.ca. With OCZ PC3200 RAM, chances are your CPU will give out before the OCZ RAM will.

Gaming in 3D Now, I don't want to sound like an advertisement, so understand it's still merely a stick of RAM... just one that can handle high speeds very well. If you're just fine running your P4 or Athlon as it is now, and massive overclocks aren't in your plans, you'll be fine with the cheap stuff. On the other hand, if you've been holding out for something that can handle DDR400 properly... your fleet of ships have arrived. Many of the ships are doing the job fine, but OCZ is one of the faster boats on these high seas.

Dan's Data For that section of the market that does want high-spec super-tweakable RAM, though, OCZ's gear seems to be perfectly good value for money, and there is a real advantage to be gained.

Bit-Tech If you are of the maniac overclocker breed, the OCZ PC-3200 will give you a lot more headroom to push the envelope.
