OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 / 1600 MHz / Reaper HPC Edition / 4GB / Dual Channel

The DDR3 Reaper HPC Series offers perfect compatibility with the latest platforms and chipsets, are now available in both 2GB and 4GB dual channel kits to meet the specific needs of customized gaming systems or workstations, offering perfect compatibility with the latest platforms and chipsets at the height of DDR3 performance.

To ensure superior stability and performance over the entire life of the memory the Reaper HPC Series makes use of an innovative cooling solution to more effectively dissipate heat produced by high-speed memory. The thermo-conductive copper heat pipe conduit is ideal for overclocking where every degree matters, ensuring that your cutting-edge investment will maintain its integrity throughout the toughest gaming missions, overclocking, or intense program applications.

The PC3-12800 Reaper HPC Series will be available in 4GB (2x2048MB) and 2GB (2x1024MB) Dual Channel Kits. As part of OCZ's line-up of premium memory, Reaper HPC modules are backed by a Lifetime Warranty and industry-leading technical support so you can push your high-performance memory to its limit.

With an excellent balance of high densities, high speeds, and tight timings, the latest additions to the DDR3 Reaper HPC Series will future-proof your system with the performance and stability enthusiasts have come to expect from OCZ.

IMPORTANT NOTE: OCZ has transitioned to a new Reaper heatspreader as of October 2008. These improved copper heatpipes are now nickel-plated for durability and corrosion resistance. Please visit our support forums here for more information.

* All Modules are tested in two module kits. Due to additional bus load, four module configurations may have to be run at lower frequency and relaxed latencies for stable operation. Test specifications are based on dual core CPUs only. If quad core CPUs are used, higher bus thresholds and core arbitration may necessitate lowering the memory frequency below tested specs.

**The Reaper HPC series uses heat pipe technology to rapidly remove heat from the main body of the memory modules and conduct the thermal load to the extended radiator fin array. The addition of the extended fin array nearly doubles the total surface area available for heat dissipation while the heat pipes warrant near isothermicity throughout the entire design. The result is a doubling in effective heat dissipation at equal delta t or, in real systems, a significantly lower operating temperature of the memory modules.

***OCZ EVP (Extended Voltage Protection) is a feature that allows performance enthusiasts to use a VDIMM of 1.95V without invalidating their OCZ Lifetime Warranty.

Pro-Clockers
"The final conclusion was a very satsifying 1852MHz.In this case it is the OCZ Reaper kit that has impressed us. Even at its default 1600MHz it is faster than what most of us would need to eliminate ram from being any kind of bottleneck to our overclocking. But none of us are satsified with default. So, in the realm of overclocking we also achieved very decent numbers in the form of 1852MHz. This overclock was done without injecting insane amounts of voltage in the the DIMMs and never messing with the timings. OCZ has a real winner on their hands with this kit."

“OCZ Reaper series stands out with a big and well designed heatspreader with heatpipes. We tested PC3-12800 kit so the modules are able to work as DDR3 1600MHz. Reaper HPC 1600 showed their skills at very beggining of our test. They worked really well as DDR3-1333 thanks to very short timings. After increasing the voltage up to 2V, Reapers were stable with 1804 MHz clock and aggressive timings [CL7]. At 8-8-8 timings they were stable at 1860 MHz at 1,97V. OCZ Reaper HPC PC-12800 is a perfect choice for overclocking fans.”

CPU Magazine: DDR Deathmatch
"This is a 4GB kit made up of two 2GB modules. That’s much better for folks looking to run Vista on a high-performance machine. It doesn’t boast the raw clock speed of OCZ’s 2GHz SLI-Ready solution, but lower timings help make up for the frequency gap. OCZ prepares the Reaper kit for additional voltage by outfitting it with a fancy cooling solution, HPC (heatpipe conduit). DDR3 is still too pricey to be considered a value, but relatively speaking, OCZ’s Reaper modules are a much better buy. The overall result of taking the 4GB route is quantifiably better system performance. Although the Reaper HPC kit runs at 1,600MHz, it finished our H.264 conversion, virus scan, and Photoshop photo filter benchmarks faster than the higher-frequency kit—and delivered comparable throughput at a lower cost per gigabyte. We were able to push the 1,600MHz kit up to 1,866MHz by loosening up timings just slightly to 8-8-8."
