OCZ EliteXStream / 800W~1000W / Single +12V Rail/ SLI™-Ready / 80+ Certified

The EliteXStream power supply family is the top choice for high-powered gaming systems and workstations. Designed to offer the consumer market an enthusiast-grade computer power supply with a state-of-the-art architecture, the EliteXStream is the ultimate power solution for those that require the ultra-efficient, advanced reliability, high-wattage solutions for leading-edge gaming machines.

OCZ designed the 800W and 1000W EliteXStream for optimum power distribution to all components by utilizing the highly efficient "single +12V rail" design perfected by PC Power & Cooling. This trail-blazing approach to +12V rail design ends the need to budget power "across the rails" as is the case with the less effective multi-rail design found in the vast majority of high-performance PSUs on the market today.

Providing sufficient power for all your high-end components including multiple GPUs, the EliteXStream will provide stable, well distributed, certified power to today's most power hungry platforms and beyond. Each powerful yet energy-efficient EXS model is certified under the 80+ Certified program so they run cool and save on utility power.

The EliteXStream will be available in 800W and 1000W configurations, delivering up to 1KW of continuous power through a complete array of connectors including four 8 pin (6+2) PCI-E and 17 drive connectors and is kept supremely cool with a large 120mm fan and features a standard ATX power supply form factor. The EliteXStream offers one of the industry's most robust consumer power supply designs on the market, and is backed by an incredible 5 year warranty and unmatched technical support from OCZ.

*OCZ does not recommend the use of our OCZ1000EXS with 2 x Overclocked GTX280 graphics cards. The OCZ1000EXS power supply is certified by NVIDIA to power Two GeForce GTX280 GPUs but the significant dynamic loading of two overclocked GTX280s may cause operational issues and is not recommended.

NOTE: OCZ recommends a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) unit of at least 1500W for use with the EliteXStream series of PSUs.

Anandtech
"OCZ's new EliteXStream series brings very high quality to the market, and the choice of components was well done. Both power supplies show they can perform well, and that's much more important than a fancy paint job. A very important factor is the output voltage, where we need to look at the stability and also quality of the outgoing voltage. We test stability by putting loads on the rails that make the power supply sweat. With only 3% of voltage regulation in the single 12V rail the EliteXStream can be proud."

"On the efficiency side, we were surprised with the good performance. The 1000W EliteXStream reaches 86.84% efficiency and the 800W version 86.21%. Both results are excellent, and we measured more than 80% efficiency throughout the normal operating levels. The noise levels are also good even at higher loads, generally staying below 30dB(A). Even after a very long period of operation with loads of 500W (or lower), users should not notice any noise from this power supply. We expect many users will be very interested in purchasing EliteXStream PSUs."

"The OCZ EliteXStream 1000w was from all of our testing results an excellent power supply. The unit exhibited very good voltage regulation, excellent efficiency, was reasonably quiet for a power supply of its capacity, and featured immaculate construction. In the end, when we look at all of the factors that we use to evaluate the performance of a power supply the OCZ EliteXStream is quite simply the best 1000w power supply that OCZ, or its subsidiaries, have produced to date and is certainly a stellar option for enthusiasts to consider in their next high end system build."

"While most high-powered PSU's have trouble maintaining low noise levels when under heavy loads, the EliteXStream managed this effortlessly. Temperatures inside the unit were also extremely good. The EliteXStream is without doubt one of the best PSU's OCZ have released to date. Combining excellent performance along with a compact size that ensures even those of us with small cases have enough juice to power a multi-GPU setup."

"The OCZ EliteXStream 1000W Power Supply distinguishes itself from the many others on the market because it's compact, offers lots of watts and has a single high power +12V rail (80A). A single +12V rail tends to be preferred, especially in a multiple video card setup because all the power is available on a high powered rail and not spread over multiple rails. It's also efficient, has quality power and comes with a quiet 120mm fan. This will be a very sought-after power supply."

"Efficiency seems to be a strong point of the EliteXStream 800W. The EliteXStream does extremely well in the voltage regulation tests and proved to be completely solid through even the most strenuous test we put it through. With this power supply OCZ has not only demonstrated that they have a product with stable rails and good efficiency but also with extremely good ripple suppression. We can tall you here and now that this is one quiet power supply. Indeed, the OCZ EliteXStream has many endearing qualities about it but none more so than its price. OCZ has just set a new benchmark for affordability in the high-end power supply market. So with solid performance, a 5-year warranty, ultra long cables, and quiet operation all backed up with an absolutely stunning price, the OCZ EliteXStream 800W gets our Dam Good Value Award."

"I am very impressed with this power supply. After reviewing power supplies with both multiple and single +12v rails, I have decided that I prefer a single rail. The OCZ800EXS looks good. The cables are quite long, which will not only make it work for a full tower, but will also help cable management. Add to that a five year warranty (three years is the industry standard), OCZ's reputation for quality, and the OCZ800EXS is definitely a value."

"The OCZ EliteXStream 800W power supply is a great looking piece of hardware. I personally do not like the LED fans that come in most of the power supplies that will light up half your room at night. I liked how many different connectors there are on this power supply, which will make it very versatile between different setups. The power supply is SLI ready, which is a great selling point for power supplies nowadays as it proves that the power supply has enough power to power a multi-GPU setup as well as having enough connectors to do so. If you are looking for a new, powerful power supply for your computer, either because yours is failing, already died, or does not support multi-GPU setups, I would suggest picking up one of the EliteXStream 800W power supplies."

"Being the smaller of the two power supplies from the new EliteXStream lineup, the 800 watt model is more than capable of producing enough juice to power the best of gaming rigs. The black coating is something that I like a lot as it doesn’t show off fingerprints like the shiner models. And with more and more cases being released with black insides, this new model from OCZ matches them well. If you are a silent freak, you can trust the EliteXStream will not aid in noise to your system unless you are using a no-fan power supply. We were totally pleased with the noise levels of this new unit as it was quite a difference from the ProXStream which was pretty audible."

"In addition to performing very well when it comes to the line voltages being close to their ideals and were stable while testing, the EliteXStream was impeccably quiet. Some of the other benefits for the EliteXStream 800W include a single high-performance +12V rail, 80plus certification, active PFC, and is multi-GPU ready. Topping off this unit is OCZ's five-year warranty with their exclusive PowerSwap guarantee."

The unit is attractively designed, both inside and out. It is a cool running model, particularly given the maximum power output. Electrical performance is improved from prior models and the DC voltage regulation quality of the EliteXstream is nothing short of outstanding. If you require a 800w unit with extremely good electrical performance and build quality this Is one of the best units we have tested. Highly Recommended.

"OCZ EliteXStream power supply provides user with great stability and top-notch efficiency that we've come to expect from OCZ's high-end PSUs. EliteXStream didn't blink even when we've put this unit under heavy pressure from known power-drainers like quad-core CPU and AMD's HD 3870 X2 cards in CrossFire mode. If you're thinking about using graphics cards in a CrossFire or SLI mode, OCZ EliteXStream 800W with its single-rail design and quiet 120mm fan is a recommended choice."

"As far as the OCZ 800 Watt EliteXStream Power Supply is concerned, it's a very clean, simple, and powerful unit. Also, rather than fancy you with multiple 12 Volt rails, OCZ engineers saw fit to offer one massive, very reliable 12 Volt power rail. And the PSU holds true to its rated 800 Watts. That's a lot of power for any system whether it be running Triple/Quad SLI or several RAID drive arrays. There's plenty of power to go around and it's as rock solid a power supply as any extreme user could want. The OCZ 800 Watt EliteXStream Power Supply is obviously very well designed to produce 800 Watts of power, maintain steady, reliable voltages, and protect your system by offering very clean power without fail. Add the 80 Plus efficiency feature and you have the 800 Watt Editor's Choice."

“This unit is extremely stable, not only the +12V rail but we were surprised how stable especially the +5V rail was. Also during our ripple tests the EliteXstream impressed us on all aspects – respect OCZ! OCZ has built a rock solid PSU which is interesting for both gamer- and overclocking enthusiasts. With the 5 year warranty program from OCZ this is definetly a good investment."

"The OCZ EliteXStream 1000W proved to be an excellent power supply and certainly warrants serious consideration if you are in the market for a high-quality, high-capacity PSU. It produced excellent voltage regulation and delivers very clean outputs with good efficiency. As if that weren’t enough, the EliteXStream does its job quietly, is 80Plus and NVIDIA SLI certified, and comes backed with OCZ’s premium PowerSwap 5-Year warranty."

"This is an incredibly solid unit each and every rail held very well under our cold and hot conditions while under heavy load. Also, throughout all tests, the EliteXStream remained incredibly quiet thanks to the 120mm fan. OCZ's EliteXStream 800W is an all-around solid unit. The unit handled our tests without a sweat and held stable even in the harshest environment. As we have seen today, its performance is on par with much more expensive units. But, besides performance, the OCZ EliteXStream comes with a few nice perks. The large 120mm fan allows for superb cooling while keeping noise to a minimum. The partially sleeved wires are a nice touch. The EliteXStream is truly a testament of affordability combining all the features we would expect to see in much more expensive units, but in a mid hundred package."

"The EliteXStream series is for the hardcore enthusiast and we are surprised about the price, especially for the 800W version. At $155 it is clearly ahead of the competition. Our tests showed this series was designed well, with average efficiency among the high-end units. For hotter climates, however, that may be just what you need; it has been designed to handle high temperatures and withstood our 50°C stress test without any problems."

"Which factors contribute to a quality power supply unit? The PSU's single rail design handled without any problems dual SLI configurations and as OCZ advertises, it can also sufficiently power Quad SLI configurations. Adding more devices, like HDD, optical storage devices, etc. should cause no problem to this product. We liked the fact that its cables are long and that the included fan doesn't product any noise. The 80+ standard certification is welcomed and the 5 years of PowerSwap replacement program warranty."

"WOW! I will go out on a limb and say this is the best power supply I have used to date. It is dual GPU certified, 80 plus certified, has a single +12V rail rated at 62A, and includes a hassle free 'PowerSwap' warranty of 5 years. There are more than enough cables for video cards, hard drives, optical drives, and peripherals. All cables are long and there should not be an issue reaching most locations in large full tower systems. The 120mm fan is very silent, I actually looked inside the grill to see if it was spinning. Having a high efficiency power supply will save money on your electric bill, another added bonus."

The Tech Report
"I do quite like the stealthy look, especially since there are no polished surfaces to attract fingerprints. OCZ joins the new millennium with a much larger 120mm fan mounted at the bottom while a drilled-out panel allows for airflow through the rear. The EliteXStream's 3.3 and 5V lines are practically bang-on target across the board, but the 12V rails stray at both extremes of our load testing. Few can match the EliteXStream's consistently low ripple content on each rail across all loads. True to its 80 Plus rating, the EliteXStream delivers better than 80% efficiency in each of our load tests. In fact, efficiency never dips below 82%. The EliteXStream is well equipped for demanding high-end systems."

“In my opinion OCZ – manufacturer of good class memory, gained a lot. Money invested in PC Power&Cooling took effect in creating almost perfect PSU. Almost surgical manufacturing precision, care on details, and a lot of connections are definitely strong advantages of this unit. 4 PCI Express bundles, which we can adjust to our needs are worth special attention. NVIDIA SLI Ready certificate confirms their efficiency."

"With such a powerful PSU, the price of the OCZ 1000W EliteXStream isn't your everyday purchase. To be honest, it's one of the most attractively price 1000W power supply available on the market. If you're an enthusiast, the OCZ 1000W EliteXStream PSU is definitely worth considering. OCZ have produced a very good PSU with excellent build quailty and stability. Its powerful single +12V rail @ 80A, capable of upto 1000W of power will definitely draw the crowds. It's certified 80 Plus and SLI-Ready, with an impressive 5 years warranty ... what more do you want?"

“In comparison to other PSUs we've reviewed recently, the OCZ is above average in terms of efficiency at 230V, and it's particularly near the top of the tables for the 75 percent and 3.3V/5V 100 percent tests. Sniffing around there's not much in the 800W range we'd buy to be honest - we know the OCZ is certainly quiet, has excellent voltages and a belly of quality PC Power innards which we know does tick quite a few boxes of our readers. If you really want a very quiet high wattage PSU with sleek black looks and the cable arrangement suits your build, then the OCZ EliteXStream 800W is a good buy.”

“The build quality of the EliteXstream is excellent, just what you would expect from OCZ. The PSU also has plenty of connectors so nothing to worry about on that side. Further more its worth mentioning that OCZ offers a five year warranty which is excellent compared to the competition. The PSU is one of the most important components in a PC, don’t just buy any PSU, if you are looking for a new PSU that makes your system stable and efficient the OCZ EliteXstream is a great choice!”

"OCZ EliteXStream 1000 W is one of the most affordable 1,000 W power supplies available in the market today. We were really impressed by OCZ EliteXStream 1000 W. It can really deliver 1,000 W at 50º C with one of the lowest ripple and electrical noise levels we’ve ever seen. Efficiency was always above 80%, being between 84% and 88% if you pull up to 800 W. Go ahead and buy OCZ EliteXStream 1000 W: it is one of the 1,000 W power supplies with the best cost/benefit in the market today."
