"We already knew what Sandforce was capable of from the OCZ Vertex LE. With that in mind the Vertex 2 even brought us higher benchmarks. One disadvantage is that the Sandforce controller is quite expensive. But what SSD brings you the best deal? If we consider the results from PC Mark Vantage, the Vertex 2 gives you the best performance and justifies the higher price. Although the Vertex 2 isn't a cheap SSD, it IS the best drive you can buy for your PC, even when you consoder the higher price. The BEST PERFORMANCE and the BEST DEAL for us means an Hardware.info GOLD AWARD! Although the other brands have a descent perorming drive, it is hard to compare them without a price. Also we have no experience with them bringing out consistent and stable firmware updates, something we can now rely on with OCZ."

"The OCZ Vertex LE has us all convinced: this is currently the fastest SSD available that you can screw into your PC. The PCMark Vantage benchmarks show that Vertex LE in practice will work much smoother than for example the Intel X25-M Postville or the different, more expensive SLC-based SSDs on the market. Who wants to buy a Vertex LE should probably be quick, because OCZ has only 5000 produced. The excellent performance deserves an OCZ Gold Award."

"If we can give a tip: Treat yourself to the 32GB Slate Express card from OCZ. With read speeds of 18MB p/s and write of 12.5 MB p/s, you can work away faster. This is a card with Flash Memory, so it can take a small bang. Also, there is a mini-USB connector at the back, so the card can connect also on a different computer. This is a perfect card for the backup important files."

"The overclocker who does not necessarily want 8GB, would be better to go for the tested OCZ kit: a very good kit with overclocking potential. The clock modules are very good; we come up with 1.81 volts out at 1056 MHz (DDR3-2112). For overclockers, an affordable and great kit!"

The line we are looking at today is the Agility from OCZ, which is more affordable than other drives and the performance level is just as good as the more expensive Vertex. "One advantage of the Indilinx controller, and therefore the Agility EX, is supporting the TRIM command in Windows 7. During the write-test we can clearly see the power of SLC-chips. The Agility EX leaves the MLC-based drives miles behind. Without a doubt there are enough reasons why you would go for the Agility EX. When your system’s workload contains of many writing commands, this SLC drive is clearly a lot faster than an MLC drive. Obviously the Agility EX is much more suitable for certain solutions. And when we compare pricing with other SLC SSD drives, such as the Intel X25-E, the OCZ drive suddenly seems pretty good."
