OCZ Vertex Series SATA II 2.5" SSD

OCZ Vertex Series SATA II 2.5

Mac1 (Norway) Added on: 2009-12-14

"We have tested the OCZ SSD Vertex against MacBooks standard disk, a Toshiba SATA disk at 5400rpm, and we can not say anything other than the OCZ Vertex performs far better than Apple's default disk. You notice it in the second you start the machine. You can almost not turned up for the MacBook have to boot up and is ready for use. The startup time is reduced to less than half of normal. OCZ Vertex is a solid SSD with very fast read and write speed. Combined with minimal power consumption, noise and heat, it is an excellent match for a MacBook or MacBook Pro with the high performance requirements. To return to a MacBook with the standard Toshiba 5400rpm disk is nothing but a disappointment after having a few days with OCZ Vertex. We will no longer have time to make a cup of coffee while we wait for the storage of data."

OCZ Vertex Turbo Series SATA II 2.5

PC World (Norway) Added on: 2009-11-24

"The Vertex Turbo was basically the fastest SSD we tested from OCZ. The reason why the Vertex Turbo will be a bit faster than other Indilinx-based SSDs is located in the controller, as the memory has a little more speed. While most provide the maximum reading speed of 230-250 megabytes per second, the Vertex Turbo delivers 270 megabytes per second. The write speed comes in at 170-180 seconds, while the Vertex Turbo manages to hit 210 megabytes per second."

"Vertex is in common with the other SSDs we have tested from OCZ, based on controllers from Indilinx. Performance-wise, this is a slightly better unit than the Agility. Like the Agility, the Vertex has been given firmware that provides support for automatically using TRIM in Windows 7. Alternatively, you can install the firmware that provides support for Garbage Collection under other operating systems, where TRIM is not supported. Performance is good and as expected set out like other Indilinx-based SSD's. The price is good and OCZ seems to be a producer who works a lot with getting firmware updates for increased performance."

OCZ Agility Series SATA II 2.5" SSD *EOL

OCZ Agility Series SATA II 2.5

PC World (Norway) Added on: 2009-11-24

The OCZ Agility delivers absolutely good performance and costs are currently about 1 200 kroner less than a 160-gigabyte SSD from Intel. One area the Indilinx-based solid-one gets the edge is that it’s better than Intel's handling of large files. One should note that the SSD that is listed at 64 and 128 gigabytes normally should have the same practical (formatted) capacity of the 60 and 120 gigabytes SSDs, as names by OCZ. The lower price of the Agility makes this a very good buy, with good performance, automatic TRIM support and no minus points."

"If we look closely at what this score is based on, can we look at just how Agility gives you the best performance. The Agility outperformed the Intel drive by a large margin when copying smaller files. Last but not least the price is more than acceptable, especially when you are looking at this kind of performance."

Mac1 (Norway) Added on: 2009-09-11

"OCZ has made a very nice and convenient solid-state module with the Slate Express Card. It is a great solution for people with machines they bring on the road, and who need a little extra storage or backup possibility. The ability to use a mini USB cable makes it compatible with most other machines. If you are holding an unused ExpressCard slot and need additional storage space that you can easily carry regardless of the computer, the OCZ Slate is definitely an option you should consider."

"OCZ Throttle has a very good performance, both used with the USB and external SATA. When you have an extra USB cable and already have external SATA on your computer it would be very hard to find something faster for a better price."

“The Illuminati keyboard from OCZ is a good keyboard that works well. It is good to write on, has a strong backlight and is flat to prevent wear in the wrist and hands. This is essential when writing a lot on the keyboard. The keys are just perfect and you can press the number keys at the same time without the threat of inaccuracy. Gamers continue to be in for a great time, with OCZ releasing great keyboards and mice."

“When it comes to the design OCZ did approach it the right way. The grip is extremely good, all your fingers are well rested which means you can play for hours without noticing any stress in your arms or fingers. DPI settings can be changed from 800 – 3200 which makes it user friendly. Great design, good grip, perfect precision, adjustable DPI, weight system, profile settings are the main positives I want to point out. Without a doubt, I can highly recommend the OCZ Behemoth. Isn’t this exactly what us Gamers are looking for or what?”

“Once more, OCZ has built a quality product, which doesn’t only deliver what is promised but looks very cool and has nice features. The performance was very good, in addition to the already mentioned design, it is extremely quiet and has all the connectors you need. Again, I am impressed by what OCZ has done, they really take us Gamers seriously and I can recommend this PSU to anybody looking to buy a new one!”
