The twin bank memory architecture using two separate controllers in crossbar arrangement is very sensitive to the memory configuration. The best results are achieved if the first DIMM slot is filled with a double-sided DIMM and DIMM slot#2 filled with an identical module, alternatively, two single sided modules in slots 2 and 3 as a complement to the double sided DIMM in Slot #1 yield about the same bandwidth. Unlike the VIA chipset, the NVIDIA chipset appears not to be able to invoke different state machines which means that the SPD in the first DIMM slot will determine the timing parameters for the entire memory configuration.
